Winter 2005 - Song of Solomon

Directed by Rebecca Seeman

The texts of the Song of Solomon are the most sensual depictions of love in the Hebrew bible. We will perform settings of these texts that span history, including Hildegard von Bingen chants, Palestrina motets, a baroque piece by Henry Purcell, and 20th century works by Herbert Howells and others. We will conclude with a recent work for choir, soli and chamber orchestra by San Francisco Conservatory composer Michael Schroeder.
