Health and Safety during COVID-19

Sacred and Profane Chamber Chorus prioritizes the health and safety of our artists, audiences, staff, and community. Sacred and Profane adheres to all CDC guidelines and local policies, and continues to closely monitor information from public health officials. Please be aware that these safety protocols may change, and up-to-date information can be found on the page below.

We are formulating our season with an abundance of caution to prioritize the health and safety of our singers, audiences, and communities. Events for the 2021–2022 season are subject to change to comply with all public health guidelines. We will communicate any changes with patrons. Please contact us with additional questions.

To ensure the health and safety of our artists and patrons, all staff, singers, and guests must wear masks at concerts and present proof of full vaccination (includes booster if eligible) upon entry.

Guest Requirements

PROOF OF VACCINATION IS REQUIRED

Sacred and Profane Chamber Chorus requires that all guests prove they have received the vaccine in full for COVID-19 at least two weeks before their concert. This includes a booster dose if eligible. Please be ready with your photo ID and proof of vaccination when you arrive at a concert, as we prohibit admission without either of these. You may bring your vaccine record in the form of a physical vaccination card/photo of vaccination card, or a Digital Vaccine Record. Children who are not vaccinated will not be admitted. This policy will only be limited as required by law.

Ticket holders who will not be fully vaccinated by the date of their concert may transfer tickets to future concert if applicable or receive a full refund for their tickets.

WEAR A MASK

All concertgoers, regardless of vaccination status, must wear a mask indoors in accordance with mandates from the City of Berkeley and City of San Francisco. Face coverings must cover your mouth and nose, and not have an exhalation valve.

STAY HOME IF YOU ARE ILL

Stay home if you are sick or have COVID-19 symptoms, have been in contact with someone known to be or suspected to have been infected with COVID-19 within the last 14 days, or if you are subject to a quarantine or isolation order. A list of COVID-19 symptoms is available online at: www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/symptoms-testing/symptoms.html. For ticket return options, please contact our box office at sacredprofane@gmail.com.

WASH and sanitize HANDS FREQUENTLY

Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, as often as you can, while at concert venues. Always wash your hands after using  the bathroom.  Hand sanitizer will be available at various locations.

Physical Distancing

Physical distance of 3 feet is recommended for all patrons indoors to reduce risk of transmission. Families and households may sit together, but we ask that patron groups leave space in pews. We have purposefully selected concert venues with plenty of space to allow for distanced seating and additional distance between the chorus and audience.

REDUCED-CONTACT EXPERIENCE

All tickets will be will-call or digital and no physical tickets exchanged. Program books will be available in both printed and digital formats.

Concerts will be presented with shorter length and without intermission to reduce exposure times for singers, patrons, and staff.

air quality

To improve indoor air quality, doors and windows will be kept open whenever possible to increase air circulation. Air filtration systems may also be in use.

Singers and Staff

All singers and staff shall review Sacred and Profane's COVID-19 protocols and response plan. These protocols are in place to minimize risk to choir members and limit the spread of COVID-19, and are guided by best practices and research provided by choral agencies such as the American Choral Directors Association, in addition to following local public health mandates.

Summary of rehearsal and performance protocols:

  • All S&P singers, staff, guest artists, and accompanists attending rehearsals must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (with at least 2 weeks having passed since their last shot).

  • Members must maintain a minimum two-meter physical distance between each other at all times. Seating arrangements will be staggered, and singers will not directly face each other.

  • Members must wear masks at all times during rehearsal. S&P will provide reusable masks designed for vocal performance to each singer at the first rehearsal, and will keep a limited supply of disposable masks available.

  • Members must not share water bottles, food, sheet music, pencils, or other objects (except with choir members from the same household).

  • Rehearsal duration will be kept under 90 minutes. This will include both time that is spent singing and non-singing time for listening to musical direction and discussion. Rehearsal will no longer include a break for food.

  • To improve ventilation, First Unitarian has installed fans and will provide air purifiers. Doors will be kept open to increase air circulation.

  • A sanitization station will be available with Kleenex, wipes, hand sanitizer, and limited disposable masks.

  • All audience members will be required to show proof of vaccination for entry and will maintain social distancing during performances. Concert duration will be be kept under 1 hour with no intermission.

S&P will revise and adapt these protocols as necessary to accommodate changes in public health guidelines, local rates of COVID-19 transmission, COVID-19 exposure within the choir, and new information on best practices for group singing during the COVID-19 pandemic

All singers shall submit their 2021-22 Safety Protocol and Waiver, along with proof of vaccination or exemption to participate. Contact us if you need access to these documents.
