How often do you rehearse? Rehearsals are held every Monday evening from 7:30 to 10 PM at a church in downtown Oakland a few blocks from BART (many of our choristers carpool from all over the East Bay and even San Francisco, so don’t be discouraged if you live outside of Oakland!). Depending on the season, rehearsals begin two to three months before each concert.

Do you hold extra rehearsals when concerts get closer? For each concert, we have one dress rehearsal per venue (three in December and two in March and May), as well as one or two additional rehearsals at some point in the season (typically on Wednesday nights). We also hold one “retreat” per season, which takes place midseason on a Saturday from 10 AM – 4 PM (with a nice break for a potluck lunch in the middle!)

What about sectional rehearsals? Sectional rehearsals are occasionally scheduled before regular rehearsals or on other days, as needed.
